The men of R.H. Thomsons family were all former soldiers. Thompson heard stories about them, but he didnt start piecing together his family history until he found a trove of 750 letters, a rich and tragic correspondence sent from war and collected by his great-aunt in Ontario. The letters filled many gaps in the family history, but there were still unanswered questions. For the last four years, Thomson has devoted himself to answering those questions, and the result is a deeply personal exploration of war, particularly an exploration of why its so important that we remember those who died.
