When You Stand Alone, Stand Tall

There is something in this book that could help any woman." "I was unable to stop reading once I started." If you have experienced barriers or challenges such as poverty, isolation, illness, death, grief, depression, abuse or addictions, this book will help you understand the path that you have been on. It may also give you strength to stand tall when you stand alone. The writer talks about looking back over her life and being thankful. She gives thanks to her Higher Power for allowing her to overcome her barriers and life challenges and today live a happy, full and positive life. Gale grew up in a rural isolated area of Hastings County. The challenges she faced of learning schoolwork caused her to leave at the age of sixteen. Her career would be in hairdressing for a number of years. At thirty-three she returned to college and received a Social Services Worker diploma. She then moved to Alberta and worked as a frontline counselor at the Women's Shelter. In 1985 she returned to Ontario, and attended Corrections Canada College and worked in the prison system. In 1988 she returned to work with the sector of Violence Against Women, where she is still employed today. This will be Gale's thirtieth year of working in this sector ranging from a frontline counselor to management.
