By 1849, parts of six towns had been formed from the original settlement and yet Yarmouth still prospered due to the many mills and shipyards clustered around its sheltered harbor. When shipbuilding and other key industries declined, the town turned to its scenic islands and peninsulas to attract cottagers and other tourists to a leisurely world of clambakes and sailing parties.Yarmouth explores this fascinating coastal town in more than two hundred rare photographs.
