In seinen späteren Publicationen 3 hat d'orbigny offenbar dem früher von ihm betonten Vorkommen von Cardium auca in den quiriquina-schichten keine Bedeutung mehr beigelegt. Im Prodrome führt er alle Fossilien der quiriquina-schichten unter seinem etage senonien auf. Zweifelt also offenbar gar nicht an dem cretaceischen Alter der dortigen Ablagerungen, Cardin: nuca findet sich (iii, p. 120) unter dem etage falunien als bei Coquimbo und auf Quiriquina vorkommend angegeben.
