Die hochherzige Dame, deren Andenken diess Buch gewidmet ist, hat mich im Frühjahr 1889 eingeladen, sie auf einer Reise nach Oberägypten und ins Ostjordanland zu begleiten, sie hat mich auch in den Stand gesetzt, eine Reise durch die Sinai'halbinsel auszuführen, deren epigraphische Ergebnisse ich im Nachstehenden vorlege.
